Our Story

We're just getting started, please let us know if you have questions or there is anything missing from the storefront, thank you!!

Handstand Pom Projects is a small climbing-inspired shop founded by two Bay Area climbers. We hope to bring more handmade goods, indie designs, and playful spirit from all over the world into the climbing community.

Before starting this project, we lived across Asia, London, and the U.S., and experienced many different cultures, climbing scenes, creative communities, and ways of making. Along the way, we met local artists, small studios, and indie designers whose work felt personal, original, and full of life. Handstand Pom Projects is our way of bringing those worlds together — supporting independent makers while sharing pieces that feel fun, thoughtful, and connected to real climbing life.

Meet Meatloaf

Our mascot, Meatloaf who loves doing handstands, is a white Pomeranian with a huge personality. Though people often see him as a delicate little “prince dog,” Meatloaf is anything but indoors-only — he’s a tiny, fearless travel buddy who has been to 12 countries and many crags around the world. Fearless, happy, and always ready for the next adventure, Meatloaf brings the same crag-dog energy we hope to put into everything we make.

That mix of silliness, determination, and unexpected strength is at the heart of Handstand Pom Projects.

What We Make

We create and curate gear for climbers who want their everyday items to feel more personal. Our shop includes handmade accessories, original design clothing, chalk bags, stickers, charms, belay glasses, phone cases, and other climbing-inspired goods.

Some pieces are made by hand one at a time. Some are designed in collaboration with independent artists and small studios from around the world. Some are upcycled, reimagined, or made in small batches. Across everything, we care about originality, usefulness, and the little details that make a piece feel special.

Built Through Community

Handstand Pom Projects is shaped by the climbing community. Many of our ideas started from conversations at gyms, pop-ups, climbing events, and local markets. We love meeting climbers in person, hearing what they are excited about, and making pieces that feel fun, practical, and connected to the culture we all share.

You may have seen us at Touchstone Climbing Series events, Movement birthday parties, Woman Up, and more — with many more pop-ups and community events to come.

Our goal is simple: to make playful gear for serious sends.

Whether you are projecting hard, trying your first climb, supporting your friends at the gym, or just looking for something that feels more “you,” we hope our pieces bring a bit of joy, color, and personality to your climbing world.
